Mariposa Cultural Foundation

The Mariposa Cultural Foundation was created to educate the public and raise awareness about human rights, and the rights of women, children, minorities, indigenous people, and the environment.

Brief History

The Mariposa Cultural Foundation was created in 2002, and is a non-profit organization with headquarters in Washington, D.C.  The Mariposa Cultural Foundation works closely with its affiliates in Mexico City and Santiago, Chile.

The Mariposa Cultural Foundation has supported the production of documentaries focusing on social issues, and is currently working with Movimiento Cultural Mariposa, its Mexican affiliate to carry out a wide range of philanthropic and cultural activities, including bringing Mexican schoolchildren on educational tours to Washington, DC, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The Work of the Mariposa Cultural Foundation

The Mariposa Cultural Foundation furthers its mission by educating the public through various means of communication, including books and other publications; films, videos and audiovisual products; cultural and educational events, workshops, and seminars; public speaking events; the news; the Internet and related products, as well as products, services and activities that may be used in the future to communicate to a wide audience.

Board of Directors

The Foundation¹s Board of Directors is made up of five or more individuals from the fields of education, law, journalism, the environment, and business who meet regularly to further the mission of the Foundation, and who oversee the activities of the organization. The board is headed by its President.  Board members are reconfirmed every two years.
